On my first day walking to my 7:30 a.m. class, I never guessed that I would feel at home on the University of Arkansas campus. I thought that going to college would involve studying nonstop with all-night caffeine binges in combination with classes I had never even heard of. However, I have learned that the college life while occasionally swamped with stressful situations is, for the most part, a fun and exciting time for everyone. People are able to make new relationships, get involved, and be successful.

From the first class of general chemistry to my current senior courses, I have made numerous lifelong friendships with people that I can relate to. I am always able to turn to them for advice during hectic times or just to talk to about anything. Through these friends, I have become highly involved on campus. I started out as a member of the Kinesiology Club and now I am the current president. I have also served on the board as the student co-chair for the Arkansas Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. Along with being involved in a club for my major, I am also involved in my college. I have been a student ambassador for the past two years for the College of Education and Health Professions. Through these organizations I have realized a few life goals.
As I entered my third year of college I had to start thinking about my professional goals. I was contemplating a few different possible directions within the exercise science field but I wasn't really sure on which direction to take. Through a required internship course, I began to see what I wanted for myself. I want to receive my Doctorate in Physical Therapy and move on to open up three clinics. From there, I wish to specialize two of my three clinics toward specific populations. Within each of these clinics, I will provide more than just rehabilitation, I will provide lifelong relationships. Not only do I want to become a successful physical therapist but I also want to continue my goal of helping others to become physically healthy. After I have established my clinics, I plan to open my own gym. Within my gym, I will have state-of-the-art equipment, fitness specialists, group exercise, personal training and everything else imaginable. After I reach these goals, who knows what else I will think of?
Now that I am in my last semester, I realize that I can reach all of these goals through a little bit of hard work and determination. I am only a few steps away from reaching all of my goals personally, academically and professionally. I am so glad that I have made the University of Arkansas my home and I wouldn't have it any other way.
