I expected the typical things when I came to college, the parties, the class schedules, the fun activities, besides that I really didn't know what to expect. I never realized how much my life and personality would change. I thought that I would make new friends, which I did, but never thought that I would lose those friends once my curriculum got difficult. I didn’t expect the hard work and adversity that I faced when it came to nursing school. I was told that nursing school was hard, but I never realized that it would take up this much time and effort. My views on hard work have changed from what they were when first coming to college. My first semester was a breeze; my last semester was difficult. I think that college teaches you the most important lesson in life, perseverance. When in college, you have to keep trying and working toward the one goal of graduating. If you don't acquire that resolve to graduate, you will not have that in anything in life. If you never stop trying, you never fail.
My plans for the future would be to pass the NCLEX the first time around, start a job in either ICU or the cardiac floor, and to eventually get my master's to become a nurse practitioner. I also plan on moving to either Denver or Boulder, Colo., and hopefully will find a job there.
